John Barge Announces Candidacy for Georgia State School Superintendent

ATLANTA — Sunday, John Barge launched his campaign for Georgia State School Superintendent against incumbent Richard Woods.

“I am not happy with the direction of our school systems, and I am sure you aren’t either. Our schools should be a place to tell our children how to think and not what to think. Our children need to achieve academic excellence,” Barge stated. “Folks, we are teaching the next generation of leaders. I can’t idly sit by and let this happen to our kids. That is why today I am officially announcing my candidacy for Georgia’s State School Superintendent.”

John continued to say that while the incumbent is saying there is no CRT in our schools, there is proof.

“Let’s be clear; there is Critical Race Theory in our state and it’s happening under my opponent’s direction. Martin Luther King said ‘I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.’CRT does the opposite of this. Critical race theory divides our children.”

Dr. Barge has over 30 years of experience in education and is a graduate of the Cobb County Public School System. He credits the system as his lifeline out of poverty and firmly believes that education is an equalizer. He is running on the platform of Restore, Rebuild, and Renew.
